Why a Dispensary?
The goal of the Chinese herbal dispensary is to be an educational resource and teaching facility for NESA students and to provide high quality Chinese herbal medicine to practitioners and the greater community at a reasonable price.
The practice of Chinese herbal medicine is rapidly changing in the United States. As it is becoming more accepted, it is also becoming more regulated. NESA students are rigorously educated in the theoretical and practical use of Chinese herbs. To safely and legally dispense herbs in their private practices after graduation or identify contract dispensaries that conform to the prevailing standards, students must be taught best dispensary practices.
For this reason, NESA operates a full Chinese herbal dispensary and requires all herbal track students perform a minimum of 15 hours of assisting our dispensing staff. While not all acupuncture colleges maintain a dispensary, NESA is committed to including and promoting this aspect of Chinese herbal education for the benefit of NESA students and their patients.
