| NESA East-West Think Tank (NEWTT) |
|
In the winter of 2003, NESA's Research and Library Departments initiated
NEWTT as a forum to gather students, faculty, staff, and the general
community in conversation about key topics that may influence the
current and future practice of oriental medicine.
NEWTT's Mission is:
1. To provide a forum for learning about key topics
that influence current and future practice of oriental medicine
including: research, legislation, education, and clinical practice.
2. To provide a forum for enhancing life-long learning
skills for OM practitioners including: reading and critical analysis
of primary academic literature; exploring topics through discussion
and debate; developing presentation and communication skills.
3. To provide a social and academic forum for the
NESA community that brings together students, staff, faculty and
board members - to meet as equals and to share ideas and qi.
To date, discussion topics have included: 'The Future
of Oriental Medicine', 'The Integration of Oriental Medicine with
Biomedicine', 'The Role of Research in OM' , 'Limitations of Biomedical
Research Designs to OM Research', and 'How Medical Anthropology
Can Inform OM Research'.
