Community Health Initiatives

NESA's Community Health Initiatives (CHI) programs are a series of classes developed to educate the general public about Traditional Chinese Medicine -- acupuncture and herbal medicine -- and how they contribute to general health and wellness.

Geared to curious patients as well as potential students, these classes are taught by some of NESA's most experienced faculty and alumni.

NESA's community programming also extends to classes on stress reduction, a Qi Flow yoga class to enhance relaxation and increase flexibility, as well as classes on the art of Feng Shui.

Individuals considering acupuncture can learn about the principles of this healing treatment as well as current trends in the use of acupuncture.  What to expect in a patient visit and how a licensed acupuncturist formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Those seeking to enhance their knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine will find courses about the nature and function of herbs and how formulas are created.  What foods are best suited to different seasons and practical advice about foods found locally.

Anyone considering a career in Oriental medicine, whether a recent college graduate or person seeking a career change, will get exposure to Oriental medicine and an opportunity to experience NESA faculty in action. And learn concrete ways to facilitate their own health and wellness.

All classes are held at NESA on the 3rd floor unless otherwise noted.  For more information or to register, please see course descriptions.
