Moon Over Water: The Inserted Needle, Core Techniques

May 21 – 22
9:00 am – 5:30 pm
$250 by 05/02 ($265 after)
15 CEUs

The inserted needle is the primary tool used in the acupuncture clinic. With a mix of lecture, demonstration, and practice, this class provides an exploration of the needle as tool for both treatment and diagnosis. Using skills learned in this class, practitioners will notice improved effectiveness of clinical results, reduced number of needles required for treatment, shortened treatment time, and fewer adverse reactions by clients.

The material presented draws on sources from Chinese and Japanese lineages, most notably the work of Waichi Sugiyama. Through lecture and practice, you will learn ways to achieve and maintain calmness and clarity during needle technique. A variety of core insertion and manipulation methods will be discussed in detail, breaking each down into easily understood components. Through attention to these components, you will be able to approach each insertion as a dialogue with your client's energy system, and adjust your technique to uniquely fit each point and each situation.

The core methods presented are suitable for treating excess or deficiency points for any disorder. More advanced concepts will be discussed focusing on ways to harmonize the local energy of the acupuncture point, which will enhance the effectiveness of that point within your treatment strategy, regardless of what style of acupuncture you practice.
