Chinese Acupuncture Studies

The Chinese Acupuncture Studies (CAS) track brings traditional Chinese medical theory and diagnostics to the treatment of modern diseases.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a scholarly tradition in which the practitioner develops a differential diagnosis for each patient based on signs, symptoms and medical history. From the start, the CAS Track emphasizes extensive hands-on clinical training. In addition to beginning the practice of acupuncture techniques students will observe how acupuncture is practiced in a clinical setting.

Each year of the program is designed to build confidence and knowledge. Students follow a course progression that revisit and reinforce the Chinese medical theory that has been learned from the start.

The first year is designed to build the foundation of Chinese medical theory combined the point location and needling techniques. The second year is designed to integrate knowledge with building an understanding of disease patterns and treatment strategies that will be part of your tools. The third year of the program builds the mind to apply the logic of Chinese medicine to clinical rotations at the NESA and satellite clinics throughout the metro Boston area. Courses include case analysis, practice management and business basics.

Full-time students complete the Chinese Acupuncture Studies program requirements in a minimum of 33 months and earn the Master of Acupuncture degree.
